Hi friends!
I’m Kara McGrath, Allure.com’s content director – and this is our brand’s safe space to talk Beauty & Wellness with fellow obsessives.
The Beauty Chat is named after a real-life Slack channel the Allure team uses to privately pitch ideas, spill industry gossip, and generally yap about everything in beauty and wellness that’s caught our eye. Some of those messages turn into full-on stories; others don’t warrant much more attention than a few emoji reactions.
So this newsletter is meant to be a weekly recap for it all: A place where you can get a behind-the-scenes peek into the reporting that goes into our Allure.com articles, discover new product launches (and old favorites) that I’m currently loving, and read quick takes on things that are happening elsewhere in the beautysphere.
So who am I? My job title comes with two main requirements:
1. That I, in some capacity, have my little fingers in pretty much every article we publish on the site.
2. That I am obsessively following everything happening in the beauty world–something I’ve been doing professionally for about 15 years and as a hobby since I was a child with a Seventeen magazine subscription.
All that’s to say, I'm innately qualified to recap all the beauty news, launches, gossip, and deep dives that have Allure editors buzzing for you every week.
But, please remember: This is a community, first and foremost. So leave comments! Take polls! Tell me what type of stories you want to see more of, which products you’re curious about, ask a beauty question for me or another editor to answer, share your own takes on the beauty news of the week.
I’m excited to turn this into a fun, safe space that can evolve into being whatever we want it to be. Pop into The Beauty Chat!
